The spicy basil chicken wings were sooo yummy! A good amount of spice that paired well with the crispy basil. The juicy to crispy ratio was a little off, not as juicy as I like and not as crispy as I like probably due to the sauce. The Thai iced tea was super sweet and refreshing. Great little afternoon snack

sanae thai incorporates charm ("sanae" in thai) & flavor into the dining experience for their customers. they also emphasize authentic food & great hospitality/service, which we got to experience first hand! -- FOOD -- we got a whole lotta stuff to share: - dry rub tom yum zap wings - fried tofu (w peanut sauce) - salad rolls (w peanut sauce) - mama hot pot - pad thai - pineapple fried rice - mango sticky rice -- LOCATION DETAILS -- PARKING: lots of street/neighborhood parking around SEATING: decent amount of tables & v random, but I loved the chairs lol! VIBE/AMBIANCE: cute, cozy, casual & lots of lighting! PRICE: $$, most expensive entree we had was $20 (most entrees will be about $15). SERVICE: very friendly, accommodating & quick!

Always looking for good Thai spots to try and Sanae Thai eatery is a must! Huge menu with delicious food and friendly staff. Quickly sat and we ordered Thai tea, crab rangoons, potstickers, pad Thai, pork wonton shrimp hot pot, and of course can't go to a Thai spot without trying their Khao Soi. Khao Soi was perfect and such a big portion that I couldn't finish it in one sitting. Sadly had to board a plane home shortly after so I couldn't keep my leftovers but that portion could have fed 2 people. I had never had it as a hot pot dish so I struggled a little getting the chicken off the bone without almost spilling the whole bowl. Apart from that the meal was perfect. I can't wait to return and try some more delicious plates, definitely worth the hype!

The service is friendly and welcoming. I was able to sit wherever I liked that was available. There were two servers, both were attentive. It was my first time, having seen the photos of food, we got the wings and chicken pad kee mao and crab Rangoon. Rangoons were good. Nothing too different than other Asian places. Spicy Thai basil wings I recommend getting rice with since it was sort of salty to eat by itself. Tom yum wings were AMAAAAZING. very addicting and battered with crispness! Pad kee mao had plenty of veggies but could be spicier. They didn't ask us about spice level though. The setting is cozy but with plenty of space between other parties. Parking can be hard but Friday night around 7 was perfect. Both Thai iced tea and Thai iced green tea were delicious! Will come back to try other dishes!

you'll find alot of unique menu items here, consisting of both a mix of traditional thai dishes & fusion takes on thai food! its not your standard thai restaurant, so make sure to try their special items, or branch a bit outside of your standard comfort zone. everything was full of flavor, incredible service that was more than lovely, and a clean dining space. parking isnt too difficult considering the residential areas nearby, but i have a feeling this place will be a new gem in the alberta neighborhood! khob khun ka! aroi mak

Extensive manual, with items that you would not see in any other Thai restaurant menu. I decided to be daring, try food, that I have nit had before. Overall solid 4. Ordered Mama Salad, chicken wings with Tom Yum zop sauce, braised beef noodle hot pot, and mango With sticky rica e., Mama hsalad was great taste, but noodle was too warm too eat as salad, but tasty. Chicken wings were bomb!!! we picked Tom Yum... fries perfectly then chatted with sauce... 5++++. Hot pot with beef, was so so. Little too sweet, rice noodle was soggy, and had 5 spice (unusual for Thai soup) and bit too sweet for me. Mango and sticky rice, you can't really go Wrong with that. Definitely would go back and try some other things and try different flavor hot wings!

This place is great. Came here on a cold and stormy Saturday night and the experience did not disappoint. We promptly ordered and the menu is great in that it has all the classics along with some specialty items. The wings looked great even if I didn't get them this time around. Portions were significant and the food was all tasty. Wound up going for the lemongrass pad Thai which came with a great peanut sauce. The flavors were rich and hearty, exactly what I wanted. Overall service was solid and the atmosphere is casual and quaint. Definitely would be a good place for takeout if you're in the area. But would certainly come back and try more dishes!

In a city teeming with Thai restaurants, Sanai manages to carve their own niche. And do it well. The vibe upon entering is welcoming, bright, peaceful, caring. That vibe extends to the service. My server was friendly, attentive without being cloying. She seemed to care if I had everything I need, all the condiments I might want, enough water. She was knowledgeable about the menu. When I shared that I was stuck between two choices offered on their menu, one that offers many traditional Thai dishes not often found in Portland's Thai scene, she spent a bit of time helping me unpack each. I ended up going with a traditional Thai dish from their Fall and Winter menu, Khao Soi Pot, a dish so redolent of the best street food I found in the hidden Soi's of Thailand that it sent me back to pleasurable memories. The broth, a not too rich chickeny coconut, served as the host of succulent, dark chicken thigh meat and some flavorful noodles. A side dish of pickled veggies, onions, bean sprouts, and lime allowed me to punch it up as I desired. With some chili oil I was in food bliss, perfect on this transitional autumn day. I always think the simple salad roll can tell a lot about a Thai kitchen. This one definitely did. Clearly made while I waited, the wrapper was plush, soft, packed with fresh crispy lettuce, parsley, sprouts, i am not a big fan of peanut sauce but theirs was flavorful. I personally would have preferred a vinegar based dipped. Small, personal preference. I am looking forward to returning with a group so we can taste a lot more of that capacious menu. The place is accessible and street parking was not hard to find.

I found this place on instagram and saw how amazing the food looked! The place is big and spacious with outdoor seatings. They have a wide selection of traditional and specialty thai dishes. I got the khao man gai and you had the option to choose between dark or white meat (not both). I chose the white meat option which I regret because the chicken was dry. The rice and sauces the came with it was very good though. My favorite was the chicken wings! There were 5 different flavors to choose from and we got the spicy basil sauce. It wasn't spicy but it was packed with flavor. I also recommend their thai iced green tea, it was the perfect amount of tea and sweetness. Our server was so friendly and helpful. She came by a few times to check in on us. There's so many dishes I wanted to try I'll definitely return here soon
